It is a gradual process – unless another healthcare provider tells you that you must immediately follow a strict diet due to a specific medical condition. Taking baby steps helps you to figure out what works best for you, helps your body to get used to changes in food and eating behaviors, and has a less drastic effect on your finances. Each time you successfully make a change, it becomes easier to make the next change.

Absolutely! Study after study shows that the same food is healthier if it is cooked at home. This is because you can control the ingredients. Restaurants are in business to make money, which includes making you want to come back and eat the same food again and again. For this reason, restaurants may include ingredients which trigger cravings and addictive behaviors, such as those high in salt, unhealthy fat, and refined sugar. You can make the same foods healthier if you cook them at home by doing things such as substituting healthier ingredients or using healthier cooking methods.
-
Absolutely! This starts with eliminating refined sugar from your diet. When you eat food containing sugar (refined or unrefined), it triggers the release of a hormone called dopamine in your brain associated with pleasure and rewards. People get “hooked” on sugar because of the pleasurable sensation that you feel when they eat it. We will work together to find alternative healthy foods that you will enjoy. This may include substituting healthy ingredients for refined sugar in recipes.
